At Canines 4 Crabs, our mission is to pair EOD veterans with dogs who can truly meet the physical, emotional, and operational demands of their daily lives. While Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and German Shepherds are not typically the breeds most people associate with traditional service work—and many individuals within these breeds would not be the right fit—there is a growing number of exceptional dogs within these lines who do have the stability, clarity, and work ethic needed for our veterans.

Because of the unique needs of the EOD community, these breeds offer the structure, resilience, and trainability that consistently align with our program’s goals. When carefully selected, they are unmatched partners for the type of support our veterans rely on.

For this reason, we do not take breed requests or accept dogs outside these specific breeds. Focusing on a narrow set of working breeds allows us to identify the rare individuals who can truly thrive in this role and to maintain the highest possible standard of training and long-term success.
